... of full term!!!

I'm doing this post today mainly because Quinn is around and able to take care of Abram and I am resting on the couch with some time on my hands. So we are actually two days away from full term. On the verge, but not really on the verge... anyway.

Easter is today and our church had one massive service in the UT basketball arena. It was awesome. There were something like 13,000 people there all worshiping Jesus together. So amazing. They made a makeshift nursery area with mini areas for smaller amounts of kids. So it wasn't overwhelming for Abram, even though he was technically in a room with, like, 200 kids. All of this to say that I got dressed and put make up on for church, which is one reason I took the picture today instead of tomorrow (when I probably won't get dressed or shower and definitely will not be wearing any make up...) Here we are:

I've made a couple of things for her recently. Or maybe finished is a better word. I've been knitting a blanket for, maybe, two months now. There are probably 20 hours in this blanket.

Sadly, it didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted. I wanted to knit the border using this tutorial I found on pinterest, but it was too confusing. So I crocheted it. That made it really thick and a bit stiff on the edges. The purl stitch also made it rolly on the edges. I think I'll try washing it and drying it flat to get it to stop curling. But I do like the colors - they match her car seat I recovered.

I also tried an experimental baby girl outfit: attaching a skirt I made to a onesie and putting a little placket on the front.

It's a 3 month onesie, so I can't see if that one works for awhile. I may make a smaller newborn one next so that we can try it sooner... because I'm impatient.

I'm feeling especially impatient about her arrival. Now that we are almost full term, I am ok with her coming any time. I'm really hoping for April 17th - which is 38 weeks, but I really need to be prepared to go longer, since that's what they are estimating. I love the weekly check ups now, though, because they help each week go faster and the last month doesn't seem quite as long as it would otherwise. We will see what Wednesday's appointment will reveal!

I bought a baby doll. Quinn was a little skeptical. But I didn't buy it for Abram to play with it, but for him to see us with it and hold it when he is sitting with us, etc. But he really likes the baby.

And not playing with the baby, but pointing to the baby, and saying "baby" (the only word he says perfectly at the moment), looking at the baby, giving the baby things (toys and food), and wanting the baby to read with him. It is encouraging and I think he won't be as shocked by Selah when she comes home - although we may be stopping him from touching the parts of her face to show us that he knows what they are when we aren't looking. There could be worse problems then him liking her face, so if that's all we have to deal with, I'll take it.

 I haven't blogged in so very long, I can't remember when and I'm not going to stop this thought train to go and check. Suffice it to say, it's been awhile. ...of a name

If you've been tracking with us for awhile now, you may remember that when we were pregnant with Selah, we had a boy name chosen .  This time, we had a few boy options, but the old standby won out, because we really do like it a lot.  But just like two years ago, we still can't quite agree on a middle name for this kid. That's where you can help. His name is Simon.  After Simon Peter, the apostle.  It's five letters and it's Hebrew (like the other kids) and we like  it. But, here's the thing: We have four options for middle names.  The two that Quinn really like, I have been vehemently opposed to.  I will share them with you in the most unbiased (yeah, right) way possible and you can tell me if I'm wrong.  For real.  I won't be mad. ...of three

So we are having another baby.  Whew.  There, I said it.  No creative lead up and stunning reveal.  Just there .  Baby.  Bam. That's a little what it felt like to find out that a third child would be joining our ranks a bit short of 3.5 years after our first child was born.  We were content with our two.  A boy and a girl.  Who could ask for anything more, right?  Also, Quinn and I each have just one sister, so it seemed natural for us to stop at two. So that's what we were working to do.  I won't go into the details of it all with you in this forum, but we really were attempting to avoid pregnancy. So this wasn't a "woops" moment.  This was a "many things happening coincidentally" moment.  And so when we confirmed that we were, indeed, expecting another baby, there was a bit of shock (of course), but also peace and assurance in knowing that God definitely showed us His hand in it.
